Minehead Holiday Cottage – The Old Sweet Shop
The Old Sweet Shop is a charming 17th-century thatched cottage full of character, having been a much-loved local sweet shop and grocery store in its past. Features include a sweeping staircase, thick stone walls, exposed beams and a large fireplace. Perfect for families, groups of friends, and dogs, guests will enjoy the most wonderful sense of space and natural light in this property.
Inside, you’ll find a large sitting room with seating for eight, a cosy wood burner, and a flat-screen TV with Sky, Netflix, and DVD. There are four comfortable bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. The large and sociable kitchen/dining area is well-equipped with everything you need. The enclosed garden offers an al fresco dining area, a summer house and lawned area. There’s on-site parking for two vehicles.
Located in Minehead’s peaceful Old Town, The Old Sweet Shop is a perfect base for exploring Exmoor National Park and the nearby coast. Rated Five Star Gold by VisitEngland, we have won the coveted Rose Award for the standard of our hospitality.

The Old Sweet Shop’s Bedroom Features
- Sleeps up to eight people. We can provide up to two travel cots for babies.
- Four tastefully decorated rooms, three en suite and one with its own shower room
- High-quality Hypnos or Premium Hotel Standard mattresses
- Hairdryer and Faith in Nature toiletries in each bedroom
- A set of towels is provided for each guest. This includes a large bath sheet and a hand towel.
Upstairs, two comfortable bedrooms with high-quality bedding and linens:
- Marshmallow (large en-suite bedroom with king-size bed, roll top bath in the en-suite)
- Lemon drop (twin en-suite bedroom, shower and Sanilav WC in the en-suite)
Downstairs, a double and a king bedroom
- Refresher is a large king en-suite with a four-poster bed. There is a raindrop shower in the en-suite. This room can be accessed from the driveway if mobility is an issue.
- Strawberry Sherbet is a comfortable double bedroom. There is a dedicated shower room for guests in this room, which is accessed through the Utility Room.
